Class Info:
Beginners: In this class we will teach the basics of belly dance, as well as a few basic combinations. Those of you who have attended the Beginners class previously are welcome to join it again to practice and improve your style.Improvers: This class is the next level after Beginners. We will look at combining movements, moving smoothly from one move to another, and improving technique as well as interpreting music, improvisation and choreography.
Tribal practise session: Tribal belly dance borrows heavily from Indian Khatak, Flamenco and Romany tradition. It has a wonderful earthy feel and is a great way to learn how to dance with a group.
From January 2010, tribal will no longer be run as a normal class, but as a tribal group practise session which is run simply to cover its overhead costs. These costs will be split equally by all students attending the sessions, which must be booked in advance as a block of 5 sessions. If you are interested, then please e-mail Esme (esmegregory@yahoo.com). Students must e-mail Esme by Sunday 10th January at the latest if they want to attend the first half term's set of practise sessions (Tuesday 12th January - Tuesday 9th February). Just before term starts, Esme will work out how much each person would have to pay to cover the costs for that five weeks and notify everyone who has signed up of what they will have to pay (this won't be much, and will be less the more people come). On the first session you will be required to pay your full share of the costs up-front.
All dancers from beginner level are welcome to try out the tribal group, but anyone who wishes to join must have some experience of the basic movements taught in the beginners class.
