Oxford Middle Eastern Dance Society

Bellydance Classes in Oxford

Oxford Middle Eastern Dance Society organises bellydance lessons and classes, parties, performances and workshops in Oxfordshire.

We are a non-profit organisation run by volunteers. Our aim is to promote participation in Middle Eastern dance in the local community by providing quality, affordable classes and arranging dance demonstrations and taster classes. We also aim to support the Oxford dance community through our regular performance opportunitues for dancers of all levels, workshops with well known teachers, and social activities.

We currently offer classes in bellydance up to intermediate level.

Our haflas take place twice a year in spring and autumn, and feature performances from OMEDS students, teachers, and other local dance groups. We also host smaller parties which include informal performances and social dancing.

Spring Term 2012

Our Winter term begins on Tuesday 17th April, and will run for 10 weeks until Thursday 21st June. We're running a full schedule of classes this Spring, from absolute beginner to intermediate level, as well as our American Tribal Style classes, which are suitable for improvers and intermediates. There have been a few changes to the schedule this term, so please have a look at the timetable.

We are very pleased to announce that our Intermediate class this term will be taught by Sandra, a multi-award-winning dancer from Estonia, who is currently living in Oxford. You may have seen Sandra at our Winter hafla performing under her stage name Eeben - she is a wonderful dancer, and we are very lucky to have the chance to study with her!
